Spooky House

I was so excited when I found this old Christmas Toy Store in a thrift store.
I just knew it could be the perfect Spooky House.

Here is a little before video of it. It lights up and has a little fan that blows snow.

I first gutted the house out.

Next I painted it black and added black paper to the inside.

I took some cheesecloth and soaked it in some tea to make it look old.

I then hot glued the cheesecloth along the window to look like curtains. (Sorry about the glare)

I added a bat and some spiders to the front of the house that I purchased at the dollar store.

I wanted to have a skeleton hanging, so I made a little tiny noose with some jute.
No, I didn't know off hand how to make one :)  so I
Googled how to make a noose.

I used hot glue to attach the noose to the ceiling.
I added some torn up cheesecloth hanging behind the skeleton so that when the fan blew it would blow them around.

Last step was to add lots of spider webs.
I love my little spooky house!

Watch here as it lights up!

Hit those thrift stores and I'm sure you will be able to find something that you can transform into a spooky house.

  1. That is amazing! I'm so excited to see you starting your Halloween Scarefest early so we have time to use some of your ideas. This little house is my favorite so far - the motion and lighting make it really special. This year I'm also going to make your shrunken heads in a jar - ran out of time last year!
